Hi,
On my sun box, i have a problem.I am not able to run man pages.Only for few commands i am getting the help like ls, cp, diff and etc. If i am running man for ifconfig or luxadm or ps ...it displays there are No manual entry for ps.
When i am investigating, i found that on /usr/share/man dir has the following permissions for root
dr-xr-xr-x and it is owened by root:root
I cannot even cd to man dir from /usr/share.
How do i fix the problem. I beleive the /usr/share/man dir should
owened by root:bin and the permissions should be 775.SUNWman PKG is installed completely on the system. This PKG is corresponding for man pages.
My .profile is set to following MANPATH
MANPATH=/usr/man:/usr/bin/man:/usr/openwin/man:/usr/dt/man:/usr/openwin/share/man:/usr/local/share/bin:/usr/share/man

Well my man dir is /usr/share looks like this:
drwxr-xr-x 44 bin bin 1024 Dec 9 22:42 man/
and i can change to it from a staff group account. You may want to try using chown to reset this.
Also check that there aren't any weird acl's set on it (do you have a + on the end of the permissions?).
if you're only geting certain man help pages, then it's possible that you may have to run catman -w to regenerate the windex database.
