logging into my solaris using x-win

people i can't login into my sun solaris workstaton anymore , before i used to put the host name , or ip address from my windows machine and it works fine , but now i can't get into it , i'm not sure what i have done in my solaris box , but i can ping , telnet and everything else , please help , i tried hostname , i tried ip address , and no luck anymore .Thanks guys

You say you can telnet, but you cannot logon? Does this mean you get the user and password prompts, and you are being denied?

I think you're saying you can connect but you can't open an Xwin session.

In which case, go to the Solaris machine, and type:

xhost +

then telnet in from the other machine and:

[for ksh/sh]
export DISPLAY="ip.address.of.other.machine:0.0"

[for csh]
setenv DISPLAY ip.address.of.other.machine:0.0

then run your command.

If this machine is connected to the internet then you may want to be more restrictive with your xhost command by just adding the hostname instead of +

Unless I have it all wrong and you're saying your window manager isn't coming up, in which case just do a dtconfig -e from a root prompt then reboot with init 6.
