I have Solaris 8(Intel version) installed on a Dell. Everything worked fine for the install, but now I want to put another network card in it.

When I look in the Device Configuration Assistant during boot-up, I see my card in the list of devices, yet the device never shows up in the /devices/pci@0,0 folder.

I've tried booting and touching /reconfigure and then rebooting, but it doesn't pick it up. I've also already added the device to the /boot/solaris/devicedb/master file and the /etc/driver_aliases file so that it will use the dnet driver which is what the Solaris 8 HCL says to use (once you follow the footnotes about the LNE100TX card).

So, my problem is how do I get Solaris to recognize my card?

What version card is it?

There's a Digital, pcNet, and 3 or 4 other version of the LNE100TX.

I have the same prob. Look in the Solaris Documentation CD in the Device Configuration Guide, search for LNE100TX. There are only certain Part #s and chip Revisions supported. Trouble is I can't find any of the number on mine.
I'm going to go buy one of the unconditionally support cards. Note in the compatibility list if there is a small # beside the card then certain configuration rules or particular part numbers apply.
Still if anyone can get it going please let me know. It's getting personal with this card.

Folks

I have the same problem. I have installed a LINKSYS LNE100TX in my PC, the card is picked up during installation of Solaris, but I just can't configure it after solaris has installed. During the solaris Install Network configuration, a error is encountered when configuring the network settings - appears Solaris will not talk to this card!!! Mt card is a version 4. Maybe the firmware on the card needs to be upgraded or downgraded. I have solaris 8 version 6/00.
Anyone with info?
