Hi Felix,
If you are trying to give ip address to your machine and put it in network, follow the following steps.
1: ifconfig le0 192:168.0.1 up
If you have less than 200 machine, best is to provide class c IP in range of 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.254
2: ifconfig -a
This command should give your ip.

Also, the machines tyou want to add in your network, insert lines in your /etc/hosts file as:
machinename ip address
Mind well, both field should be seperated by tab key and not spacebar.
Then from other machine ping your machine.

If you still have problem, mail me at ukrami1@hotmail.com with error messages.
Best luck.

Umesh, Edison, NJ.
