Dear all: I am new to Unix and I want to configure my computer (OS is Solaris 8) to internet. I have a router behind the Direct TV DSL static ip, how to config in solaris8 (x86 intel) or edit the appropriate files so that connect to Internet.
When I install Solaris8 what should I check? Network ----- Yes/No Host Name ----- Any?? DHCP ----- Yes/No IP Address ----- a one from the router or DSL static ip Subnet ----- Yes/No (?? 255.255.255.0) IPv4 ----- Yes/No IPv6 ----- Yes/No Name Service ----- NIS+/NIS/DNS/LDAP/None Domain Name ----- I don¡¦t have DNS ----- I have no idea

network -- yes hostname -- any dhcp -- no ip address -- any ip in your network subnet -- depending on the network ip ipv4 -- yes ipv6 -- no name service -- none domain name -- none DNS -- should be provided to you by ISP (IP's)
