Seems obvious, but can't seem to find an
answer. When I reboot my Solaris
machine, the interface is down. I have to run the ifconfig command and I have
to add the external routes to my table.
What do I need to do to make these persistant?

Reply:

create /etc/hostname.hme0 (network interface)
in this file you put the hostname
edit /etc/hosts and add ip-address + hostname
and put the hostname also into /etc/nodename

Other option is to "sys-unconfig" and during the boot proces your system with request the right values..

Awesome... Thank you so much. The
sys-unconfig command was exactly what
I needed. Now I'm off to learn NIS+

There is one other thing... The route to the external network (internet) doesn't want to stay. I have to do a route add every time I re-boot.

Thank you again...
