Hi,

You cann't install onto 2nd hard disk, as architecture of Intel machines needs to boot an operating system from primary hard disk.

Work around:

Install solaris OS in the 2nd hard disk connecting as primary. Use system commander or boot manager s/w's. Installing which prompts you to select the hard drive to boot from.

If you had both installed as masters, could not you just change the boot order in the bios everytime you switch between oses.

I have Win98 on 1st HD and Solaris & Linux on 2nd. I have to swap the bios setting to make my Primary Slave the boot disk to boot Solaris, to boot Linux I have to use a boot floppy as well.

It's a bit of a nash on but it it works.

I'm trying to find out if it's possible to make it easier but I'm not having much success!!

Dear Sreenivas Bhaskara,

As u have suggested, to install solaris 8 on another hard drive and use system commander for booting multiple OSes. I have 2 hard drives the primary disk(master) has win 98 installed and there is another disk as slave. I have system commander 2000 installed.

I tried to install solaris 8 for IA on the slave disk, but unfortunately the System commander does not recognise solaris, I would appreciate if u can educate me on how can I install solaris 8, my feeling is I must be doing something wrong while installation solaris.

Please help !
