Hello Everyone,
I am trying to install Solaris 8 (Intel Platform Edition) PC; however, everytime when I get to the "Solaris Device Configuration Assitant" (which is the very first step for the installation process, i.e. choose whether to perform full scan, specific scan or add driver page), once I press F2 to continue for the full scan, my computer will reboot then tons of starnge characters coming out to the screen. I have tested my installation CD works fine with another PC. So can anyone give me some clues of the problem??

The following is my config for the PC:
AMD K62 300
196M Ram
5.4G Harddisk

Thank YOU!!!!!

Hi Dc.

The same happened to me, and the solution was to boot directly from the cd # 1 instead the Device configuration asistant. If not, you might try downloading one of the last boot diskettes in sunsolve.sun.com, wich fixes that bug

I've tried to use the boot disk to install again. This time I wait long enough for the PC to response. It shows the following error from the "Bus Enumeration" step:

Boot panic: trap type 8, error 0, at 83c2
cr0: e0000019, cr2: e7501003, cr3: 167000
eax: 8, ebx: ffffffff, ecx: ff00, edx: lcffff
cs: 0, eip: 83c2, ds 8, es: 8
[83c2]

any clues??

Wow, finally I know what is causing the problem! It is due to the Sis6326 display card that I am using! Now I've changed to S3 3D/2X, does anyone know where I can find a driver for this card??
