installing floppy drive on solaris 8

I ve just install a floppy drive on an ultra 1 running solaris but the machine is not mounting the floppy drive automatically ,i tried to mount it manually and it wouldnt let me do it either. Any ideas...

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have solaris 8 on an intel machine. So I don't know if its the same on a sparc. To mount a floppy (which sol8 will not do automatically) i just use the volcheck utility. Type volcheck at the prompt and it will have volume management rescan removable media.
