Hi everyone!!! I want to install solaris 7 on my machine. My hard disk is 29 GB partitioned as below: c:2GB - installed DOS d:14 GB - installed Winme e:4GB - did not install anything f:4GB - did not install anything Rest is Unallocated space. I started computer with Solaris floppy disk. It loaded the necessary files. At a point where you have to select the source drive, I selected CDRom and then it started reading information from CDRom. After making choice 1 for installation the computer shuts off and restart it again and of course it starts from the beginning again. I have tried it many times but to no avail.

here are a few suggestions for you mr shahid 1)Solaris likes to be in position/partition 2 within a multi-boot partititon. try having 1G of DOS partition instead of the 2G you currently have as your partition C: and install the solaris as the second OS on the drive i.e. make the drive immediately following your DOS drive your non-dos partition so that solaris can go there. then continue with the others e.g. Windows ME etc on D, E,F,G and so on. 2)make sure that your PC components pass the HCL test 3) once the installation picks up from your CDROM drive, remove the diskette from the drive to see if this helps. good luck
