Installation fails

Comment:
I have an Ultra 5 machine that had Solaris 7 running on it. We were having minor problems with it so I felt it to be the perfect opportunity to try installing Solaris 9. The problems got worse for me I couldn't and or remove any thing pkgadd and pkgrm didn't work. I kept getting errors about bad content file. So I decided I probebly should just go back to 7 as this is a lab machine and we need it. Now I can't get 7 back on the machine. I get through most of the install then it stops with these errors and says installation failed. ERROR: Could not copy file (/tmp/root/var/yp/aliases) to (/a/var/yp/aliases) ERROR: Unable to copy a temporary file to its final location This had been going on for a while now and I can't find anything on here or the internet in my searches. It might be how I'm wording my query. I've run out of ways to ask the same question. If any body can help me out I would be very greatful.
