i have a fresh unformatted hard drive . i tried to install solaris 8 on it. it is a 6 gb hard drive. in which i gave 9% to x86 and made it active and rest of all to the solaris partition. now after decting the hardware . i gave the swap slice 1024 mb and to start on boot. with starting from 3 cylinder now it says "copying mimi root to disk ... done" then after that "copying platform specific files...done"then "preparing to reboot" then it takes another 2 minuates and dispalys that "warning: /tmp:file system full, swap space limit exceded. .what is happening with me can't get a clue... thanks in advance
6G is not enough, 12G is the minimum requirements for installing Solaris 10. It is a huge system than any other OS. When I install every things, it needs above 20G HD and 2.8G RAM to run it as its recommendation.

solaris 8 or 9 we can install even with 5 gb disk space and 128 mb memory space. only solaris 10 requires more hard disk space , 10 gb will be good. In ur case , u try install OS from x86 partition , why do u go by such method , delete that partition Do fresh install using solaris 8 2/02 or later version cdrom 1 not installation CD. begin ur installation from CDROM-1 which is more easier. I beleive earlier solaris 8 version before release feb 2002 are more buggy regarding installation. Even try solaris 9 which is more handy . solaris 10 is completly diffrent than earlier OS
