init5 on solaris

Hello
I kinda new in Solaris wrold and I wonder
how do i disable X desktop (init5)on startup

the OS is Solaris 8

it's not init 5.
disable dtlogin from the /etc/rc2.d dir (I think thats where it is)

If you don't need NFS then you could always just change the default run level to 2? If I remember rightly then this doesn't bring up the login screen.. (please correct me if I'm wrong).

I think you can do this with /etc/init.d/inittab

just do man init to check - I don't have access to a terminal at the moment to check.

Oliver's idea works...
I disabled dtlogin at rc2.d .
and yes I need NFS .

Hi there, on SPARC, to disable dtlogin (CDE environment) and enable command line login, it is not at all required to change here & there. Simply try the following -

To disable dtlogin: /usr/dt/bin/dtconfig –d
To enable dtlogin: /usr/dt/bin/dtconfig –e

For more help on CDE configuration - /usr/dt/bin/dtconfig –h

It must work accross reboot.
