Hello everyone, I'm running Solaris 8 on a sparc platform. My problem is that the init command doesn't work for me. The only way to take the system down is to issue the command 'reboot' or 'shutdown'. Why is this happening?
Also, another problem I am having is that when the system comes up, the CDE is not running. Instead, I have to manually start it by issuing these commands:

I may need more information. run kdmconfig only run it from the GUI, if you run kdmconfig from within the GUI it will delete your current login session Log in from the command line--thsn use the kdmconfig

Thanks for the reply! But I can't find the command kdmconfig. It's listed in the man pages but when I do a 'which', it doesn't show up. Where do we go from here?

scratch that, I just read through the man pages and it says that kdmconfig is for IA based systems. I'm on sparc. Any other help you can provide me?
