I truly hope you find an answer to your question. I have been waiting for seven months for anyone to write they have connected any HP printer to an Intel Solaris 8 machine. The above answer does not take into account that the Intel version of Solaris 8 does not contain any drivers for HP printers, nor are the printers listed on the Hardware Compatibility List. If you succeed, please post how you did it!

Hi, I've succesfully gotten my HP Deskjet 990cxi to work with Solaris X86. I used CUPS( www.cups.org ) with the HP Linux Inkjet driver( hpinkjet.sourceforge.net ). It works wonderfully.
