Comment:

The SPARC Solaris 9 Download of the "Solaris Software Companion CD" results in a 445Mb file called s9ccd-sparc.iso.zip, so far so good. Unzipping results in a file called "software_companion_sparc.rr" - what am I supposed to do with this?
Any help would be very much appreciated as Sun's documentation at http://wwws.sun.com/software/solaris/freeware/s9download.html is confusing. Thanks!
I burned the rr file as an ISO on a CD but in Solaris when i execute the file it says: cannot execute.

I'm wondering if your zip software added the rr. from the looks of the file name the zip software should unzip it to file_name.iso.

perhaps it's already an iso file - remove the zip ext. and try to burn it.

hope it might help.

Thanks, that is what one would figure; that the zip would unzip the file to an iso, but no, it extracts a file called software_companion_sparc.rr

I already tried removing the zip extension and then burning the ISO; no luck. It becomes an invalid iso image.
