I have a sparc machine running Solaris 8.
When I ran /usr/sbin/sysdef, I noticed that there are no default settings for SEMMNI (The maximum number of semaphore sets in the entire system). I then modified /etc/system file, added a line like this:
set semsys:seminfo_semmni=100
Then I went to OK prompt and type "boot -r", strange enough, I still got this message from /usr/sbin/sysdef:
* IPC Semaphores module is not loaded
Could someone tell me how to set this value? Many thanks.

That seems to be the correct way to set it. I don't know why it does not show up with sysdef. I suppose ipcs -sb does not report anything either. I wonder if the module does not load until accessed. Can't offer more than that--sorry.

If you want to forceload the modules, you can edit the /etc/sysyem file manually. The modules wont show up on sysdef -i unless and untill they are used first by any application.
