I have 40GB hard drive, started with no partition on it.
1.with the installation CD we booted the machine. It asked for fdisk HDD said yes
2. Gave following options.
1.Solaris 2.Unix 3.PCIXOS 4.Other 5.Dos12 6.Dos16 7. DosExt 8.Dosbig a.X86boot b. Diagnostic 0.Exit ?
3.At the option prompt we selected 1.solaris partition and went ahead made 20% of HDD that is 8GB partition
4.rest we kept un-partitioned
5.went ahead with instructions and did swap of 512mb
6.It had asked for reboot the machine and in next installation procedure inserted CD1 of 2 for software.
7.it had given an error Solaris software failed could not fit slice on disk c0d0s0.root (/)file Could not fit in any slice on disc c0d0s0
8.when we looked at more detail of error it shows that to install it requires 1769MB and avilable disk space c0d0s0 is just 1357MB.
9.whats the basic BIOS setup and hard disk BIOS setup do i need so it takes right partion size. my hardware configuration is ASUS motherbord CUV4X-E,1GHz,256 sdram, fijitsu 40gb hdd, aopen Fax/modem,dlink 10/100 NIC,52x nVIDIA grfic card, creative sound blaster 128pci,LG cdrom. Please send us detailed installation procedure from partitioning as we want to load Solaris,Windows 2000,win 98 and corel linux . We are failed to understand why it is giving such small space, instead of partition 8GB.
Looking forward for your cooperation.
