How to configure second NIC

Sun Ultra 10 and Solaris 8 One 10/100 built in NIC, Works properly as hme0
Second NIC 3Com XL PCI 3C900-Combo doesn´t work at all and is NOT listed when ifconfig -a
Done init 0 boot -r Tryed plumb but with error msg. Tryed ifconfig ie0 10.0.0.1 >error touch hostname.le0 rebooted and so on. Nothing helps. Any idé what the problem is?

Ok, removed the second NIc if it was a hw problem. Installed a new 3c 509 instead. Done the plumb thing and still nothing works, also touched a new file called hostname.hme1 and removed the old one le0.
PLEASE Help me!

Hey,
Make sure the driver for your NIC is loaded correctly. You need at least: /kernel/drv/yourNIC and /etc/yourNIC.conf. It should be shown by prtconf or in /etc/driver_aliases and /boot/solaris/devicedb/master. You can put the static IP in /etc/hostname.hme1 or *.le1. Everything should work.
