Help! I'm new to Solaris. Got the product installed and when trying to change the video setting i'm frozen out of the GUI now "X-server cannot be started on display :0". Essentially locked out of a fresh install. So I need to apply the patch from SunSolve for the Nvidia TNT2 driver since the one on the CD doesn't work, but the SunSolve download for video (patch #109401-03) including my video card is 1.9MB and unzipped it's 5MB, far too much for a diskette. I tried to put a random smattering of files on the diskette with the Device Config Assist diskette to add the drivers to no avail.

I need detailed info on how to get this patch into my system (where to navigate and commands). I can't boot into it for GUI. Please help :) I dunno how to untar or jar or whatever... I'm a newbie.
Thank you!!

Does your monitor work in test mode ? If so you could login, then ftp the file from another machine and then apply the patch.

I went through the disk config i think to get it to work again in safe 16 color mode, then put the patch on cd and upzipped it into a new directory and used the patch add command. It looks like the patch installed but i have no idea how change the video driver. I went though the disk config but it looks like it wants to do a whole install again since it asks about the OEM CD or jumpstart... How to change the video driver :) please ???

m64config -prconf will tell your options
then you can do;

m64config -res 1280x1024x85 -depth 8 or 24

thanks
