How can I play my mp3 files on Sun Ultra 5 machine running with SunOS 5.6 operating system.

1 -Intall glib:
ftp://ftp.sunfreeware.com/pub/freeware/sparc/2.6/glib-1.2.10-sol26-sparc-local.gz
pkgadd -d glib-1.2.10-sol26-sparc-local

2 -Install gtk:
ftp://ftp.sunfreeware.com/pub/freeware/sparc/2.6/gtk+-1.2.10-sol26-sparc-local.gz
pkgadd -d gtk+-1.2.10-sol26-sparc-local

3 -Download xmms: http://www.xmms.org/files/1.2.x/xmms-1.2.7.tar.gz

and compile:

gzip -d xmms-1.2.7.tar.gz
tar xvf xmms-1.2.7.tar
cd xmms-1.2.7
./configure --prefix=/usr/local
make
make install

3 - execute xmms
/usr/local/bin/xmms

If your sound car works you should to play mp3
