hi there,

my machine is sun sparc. the directory /home is read only and nomatter what i do. it is still read only. I login as root and
chmod 777 /home. i got message:
chmod: WARNING: can't change /home

please help me out

Sun will use the auto mount mechanism for /home. Have a look at the file /etc/auto_home

# Home directory map for automounter
#
+auto_home
* machinename:extra/home/&

The above example will map /extra/home to /home with all the user directories under this point. This is useful for centralized user directories.
