/home partition read only

problem i am undergoing right now is that when i add a new user it doesnot make a home directory for the user.hen i realized that home directory was read ad executable only so i issiued the command
chmod 777 /home but it is not working what may be the problem

the automountd is protecting /home for usage.
So use /export/home instead or kill the automountd proces
