Hello !!!
I have the Solaris 8.0 CD Images with me . . but i dont have a CD-ROM , rather i have it but dont want to write the images to CDs as i dont have a CD writer and neither intend to buy one . . Now , in this case, is it possible to install Solaris 8.0 x86 ? In Redhat Linux 8.0 , its allowed . . no need to write the images to CDs , it can be done starting the install floppy disk and specifying where the images r located on the hard drive i.e an Hard drive insallation is possible , same holds true for FreeBSD , hard drive installation is possible . .Why is it not possible for Solaris x86 ????? Any method to get over with this problem ?????? Plzzz guide . .bye bye

No...you can not install from an ftp site or a remote CDROM.
The only way you can install solaris remotely is with a jumpserver, which requires another machine with solaris on it.
oh and quit being cheap and buy a $30 cd burner.

If you feel like some technical exercise, you can set up a linux machine as a jumpstart server then install you x86 machine across the network.
