I am planning to install Solaris 8 on my custom built PC. I checked the HCL for Solaris 8 and I couldn't find my motherboard and video card listed....infact there r very few motherboards listed! does that mean I am SOL!?!? my motherboards is Gigabyte- GA7IXE running Athelon K-7 650 Mhz processor, and my video card is 3dfx Vodoo 16...any ideas?

for motherboard, any should work, the problems are video card, and controllers(IDE, SCSCI) check these two. make sure u have the right video card, and controllers.

I'm having the same problem. I have a Voodoo card as well. I am going to pick up a ATI Rage IIC. They are only about $25 on pricewatch.com.
