GCC installation

I get this message after I installed gcc-3.4.2 checking for C compiler default output... configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables Any help would be appreciated on fixing this.

It is a path issue. It is finding a program 'cc' that is not a c compiler before gcc. Do cc -v ( I think ) to see the version information. Also which gcc will tell you the location of gcc
