hai,

when using telnet ,it is ask password,

in which form the password is send to destination machine from dump machine.

is it clear text or encrypted?

if it is clear text means , some one can
tap the password.

when ever i use telnet , i always found the password is encrypted .
when u r typing the screen shows nothign to u , like u wrote nothing .

telnet, ftp, smtp are all clear text protocols. When you send your authentication, someone can snoop the data stream and get your username and password. ssh is an encrytped replacement for telnet. sftp is meant to replace authenticated ftp. Mail can be handled with https web interfaces if you communicate over an insecure network.
