hello all, I have the following problem: I use a solaris 8 sparc machine, with one pci ethernet card installed, configured, assigned etc. How will I get to replace it with another ethernet card and make it run without losing my settings (hostname,ip address, netmask etc)? Do I just plug the new card and the solaris trace it automatically? Do I need to assign it manually? Oh my, you are in trouble. It might be possible that the exact model of card could just be swapped. Might have to go to openbios and set it up there. The settings in 8 are all text based. You'd have to either read the docs at Sun or see the web pages on it. Not the most easy if you have a complex setup. Be sure you understand all of the issues before you attempt it.
