First Install the XP and then Solaris.
When u start Xp installation it show u the disk space. 1)Create a partition of u r required size (example GB's) and leave the remaining space unpartitioned. After Installation of XP,start installation of solaris 8.0. use the CD solaris 1-2, solaris will take of the unpartitioned space,it will create its own partition. follow the instruction and u r all set
all the best

i have installed solaris with win 2k today
i have created unused partition through Partition magic and then i booted with solaris cd 1 and i configured all the devices and when it came to the point of installation i just highlighted that unused partition for solaris.
the good thing about solaris is that it took over the boot sector allows u to boot any partition u like without using booting utilities
if u have any problem mail me at bilal_mujeeb@hotmail.com
