I'm running Solaris 8 with a linksys router acting as my DHCP. I can get the address from the router, but can't resolve the hostnames.. (www.whatever.com) but I can ping everthing. I know I need to edit the nsswitch.conf and edit the "hosts: files" line and add "dns" at the end of "files" but that din't seem to work, I tried to create a file called default router and simply type in the router address... but that din't work either,
Can someone help me out... :-) (with lot's of details.. ) hehe...
As you can see I love Unix, just don't know much about it. I just got myself a book and hopefully within a couple of months I will be helping ppl out here..

I think you need to check your resolv.conf file. Check the man page out. Basically you create a file like: domain myhosts.dom.com nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Where the IP address is the address of your DNS server.
Hope this helps
