Hi, The problem is I can ping any machine on my local network. I can ping my gateway (Linksys router), I can also ping my @home DNS Servers. The problem is I can't ping any farther out. I set the DNS servers in /etc/resolv.conf to my @home DNS servers. Is that right?? Is there supposed to be any other entries in the resolv.conf file? Thanks for the input...

Hello, You can also set your domain name there. for ex: domainname cybertrap.net nameserver www.xxx.yyy.zzz
In the nsswitch.conf file there are places to set the name resolution order. For ex. the entry in that file which states...
hosts: files dns nis
that will make the machine resolve ip by local hosts file first then will go to DNS servers after then NIS.
Are you pinging by name or ip solely? Try pinging by IP then try by name. If neither work then check your rules and make sure (ICMP) pings are allowed through to and from that host.

Also: if you can ping your dns servers then run a nslookup and try to validate that those are your true DNS servers. (Mis-Typed)
