Hi Fellows,

I am running syslog deamon in sparc server. But many of the messages received from network devices are appearing in console as they arrived in addition to being logged in /var/adm/messages. This is very annoying when trying to vi files, etc. I tried changing settings in /etc/syslog.conf, re-started syslogd after changes, but not luck. Does anyone know the exact file, line or parameter to change so they get logged by not displayed in screen?

thanks a lot

Reply:

man syslog.conf

The file is /etc/syslog.conf

Have a look for lines with a "*" in the action column.
