hi,
This is a great forum..,to learn from experts.:)
I have following quesions (hope it's not silly!)1) What is the use of /net directory in Solaris?
2) I usually use a small shell script like with line {cd /net//home/...} to either copy file from host to remote vice-versa.How is this different from telnet and ftp..which asks for username & password.
3) Like I said above, if any user enters a remote system using, { /net/} , Is this process being logged somewhere...?and how is the process of fining it?
The only limitation I found is if in the remote system, a directoy has no permission.., then one can't enter beyond that dir.
Thankyou in advance
Satish

The /net directory is used with the auto mounting daemon. If you had a NFS server in your local network, you could mount a share by CDing into the following directory structure.
cd /net/nfs_server_name/exported_directory_name/subdirectory/and_so_on
Telnet is an interactive protocol where you execute commands on a remote host. FTP is an authenticated file tranfer protocol.
