Installing Solaris 8 on a Ultra 60 with an External SCSI drive and when running boot cdrom I get:
configuring /dev /devices
Using RPC Bootparams blah blah
cable problem? (Im not on the network)
Starting the Web start 3.0 solaris installer
WARNING corrupt label -- wrong magic number
/pci@1f,4000/scsi@3,1/sd@1,0 (sd16):
corrupt label -- wrong magic number

./W00.findswap(1823): 135 Arithmetic Exception
Could not get disk information.

When you receive a wrong magic number" message, you must label your disk. At the command line, type "format". This will list all the disks on your system. Choose the disk by entering its number. You should be asked if you want to label the disk. type Y for yes. Label all disk attached to your system. Reboot system and, install should work

When you receive a "wrong magic number" message, you must label your disk. At the command line, type "format". This will list all the disks on your system. Choose the disk by entering its number. You should be asked if you want to label the disk. type Y for yes. If you are not asked, type l for lable. Label all disk attached to your system. Reboot system and, install should work. drvconfig;disk is used when a device can't be seen because drivers haven't been loaded for a device.
