Hello
My Name Is hamid And I have a server of Windows 2000 and solaris 8 on the network i there any solution that i share files folders printers between solaris 8 and windows 2000
and through windows to solaris 8.
i come to know about samba but i don't know how to configure it and from where to download it

www.samba.org
you will need to unzip and unarchive it (gunzip -c samba-latest.tar.gz | tar xvf -;), then compile and install it (follow the instructions given). After unpacking it the install doc is in: samba-2.1a/docs/htmldocs/UNIX_INSTALL.html
To allow you to use the graphical configuration tool (SWAT) you need to setup some other things.
add this to your /etc/inetd.conf (as one line)
swat stream tcp nowait.400 root /usr/local/samba/bin/swat swatand add this to /etc/services
swat 901/tcp # samba swatthen start samba /usr/local/bin/smbd -D
/usr/local/bin/nmbd -Din a web browser http://localhost:901
and use SWAT to configure it.
If you need to restart the Daemon:
pkill smbd
pkill nmbd
and then restart it as above.
good luck, hope this wasn't too confusing

hello hamid
software XWinPro is interface between windows
(98,2000) and solaris that with software you
can access to solaris at windows(98,2000)
then work on solaris.
