Hi SUN surus,

I have solaris 8 installed in INTEl machine, with D-Link internal Modem. I want to get connected to internet. Please let me know who to solve the problem.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Is this modem on the Hardware Compatibility List?

www.kempston.org has a guide to dialling up to an ISP - I am sure you could adapt it to suit your needs.

Personally I feel it's a bit messy, but it does work.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the response.

I did checked up the site suggested by you. But, unfortunately it mentions only for the external dial up modems connected through serial ports.

My INtel machine has Built-in internal PCI
modem of DynaLink make(superflex 56 something like that).

Please lemme know if you can. I will greatly appreciate that.

Ah... sorry about that. I'm not sure about internal modems to be honest (plus I hate them with a passion) :(

I found a thread that may help you:

There is a reply if you scroll down that details how someone has fooled Solaris into using the internal modem.
