I'm currently setting up a remote console access for my SUN Solaris e420r.
I have a CISCO router 3640 which I intend to connect to the serial port A of the E420r.
In order to do that, i got an RJ45(F)<->DB25(M) adapter to connect the LAN cable and to the serial port of the server.
The problem is, i do not know the PIN connection inside the adapter. Appreciate if anyone could help me, thanks.

rs-232 has not changed in decades. Search for db25 pinouts?
On a side note, are you trying to configure a serial connection to a ethernet port? Does your adapter convert serial to IP?
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.

I'm not sure whether the adapter will convert anything. But i think it's just to transfer signal from the ethernet LAN cable to the serial DB25 port.
That's why the correct RJ45 pin should go to the correct DB25 pin. Conversion i think is done by the router. I maybe wrong here.

Then you must be talking about a gizmo that you use the "rollover" blue flat cable to connect from each adapter(gizmo). It is just a connection adapter. I kind of thought you were going across IP. I now assume you mean a serial terminal connection. I think it ends up being either a null modem or modem cable. I just keep pulling cables out of my box until one works. See the cisco site for correct pinout. I think it is also in the doc's that came with the cisco unit (in fact I am sure I read it). We have like eight billion of them here. Remember that you can't use the flat blue cable for anything else. It is not an ethernet cable at all. See wire colors to compair to A and B type 802 connections. You will see it is a roll over cable only.
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.
