I know you that this question is very easy and maybe I shouldn't bother you with it but I'm really new to Solaris....could you please tell me how to change the system locale...from a language to another one?
I'm looking for the same thing as changing the regional setting for NT 4. thanks a lot in advance.

ok. I have a start for you but have never done this so maybe you want to give it a try.
In /etc/default/init there are environmental variables called LC_* for monetary, time, numeric and so on. I did a man on init and read about how the init daemon looks in the /etc/default/init file to set these environ variables. If you know the name of the locale then try setting the variable to this. Don't know if this works or not cause I didn't try it but you might want to. To see if the locale information is installed you might want to do a 'pkginfo | more' and search for the things you are looking for to make sure the packages are there.
good luck and please post to let others know how it goes.

for your individual login you can select the language off the login screen pulldown.

Before I even try to answer for the default of the machine, is the box a stand alone or networked? (level of complexity is very different for a networked box)

My machine is standalone. What has to be done for changing the default locale permanently?
