Comment:

does a cdrom need to have a specific label format? i tried to boot from a cdrom with a SUSE 7.3 iso image and received a bad magic number... can't open boot device... error but i can boot off the solaris 9 install cd with no problems. the disk label is "suse7_3_disk_1" (without the quotes). perhaps the cd is not bootable? thanks in advance for any suggestions. the box is a sparcstation 20.

Nope, it's not required.

It's more important that the Suse version is based on SPARC architecture.
