CDE doesn't not allow logins

I have a Sun box that doesn't allow any logins via CDE. I can ssh into it from a remote box, however when I try to login on the console with CDE it allows me to type in the user and pass but then returns right back to the login window.
I tried removing the .dt file and that didn't help. I also ran this command: /usr/dt/bin/dtconfig -e
this was the response: done desktop auto-start enabled.

My title is wrong, sorry. I meant to type "CDE does not allow logins".

I figured it out. There was a hack on the /etc/dt/config/sys.dtprofile that had the word exit inserted at the bottom of the file. This file was generating the .dt and .dtlogin for all new users created.
