First check that your CD i readable in the actual CD-rom player. If possible try with another OS.
Secondly, it can be that Solaris gets "confused" of the fact that your CD-rom is "in between" your harddrives, this is pure speculation though. But itīs a good rule to always if possible have your CD-rom as Secondary slave. Having the harddisks on the same cable will boost harddiskperformance a little bit to, due to the fact that the transferrate of the CD-rom is lower than the one of the harddisks.
