Hi all,

I dual boot solaris 8 with win98. It works but yesterday when I enter an option to boot solaris it gave me this message:
INIT cannot create /var/adm/utmpx
INIT failed write of utmpx entry: " "
INIT failed write of utmpx entry: " "
INIT SINGLE USER MODE
ENTER Run Level (0 - 6, s, or S) [3]:0

I tried avery option but still can't load solaris. The win98 is not affected (ok).
I remember removing the nsswitch.nis file in /etc, did solaris needed this file?
Any idea to fix this or just reinstall solaris.

thx

fix or adjust any troubles

nsswitch.nis is only needed if you have NIS installed
