Comment:

Have two (unix)solaris servers(a and b). I would like to connect from a to b(the reverse is not necessary) using rlogin. I editted the inetd.conf file but the daemons are not running on b. I get the error:

"rlogind: stdin is not a socket file descriptor"

when starting the daemon on b.

Is there a basic setup procedure I can follow to allow this rlogin connection between the 2 computers?

Stock, my /etc/inetd.conf file looks like this

login stream tcp6 nowait root /usr/sbin/in.rlogind in.rlogind

and rlogin works for Solaris 8. What version are you using with 16 MB of ram?
