Hi,

I have a dual boot system with Sol 8 and Windows 2000. I originally used the Solaris boot selector to handle the booting, but I now use Symantec BootMagic, which works very well.

But when I select the Solaris partition, I am still confronted with the Sol boot selector. This means I have to select Solaris twice, and I have to supervise the boot or I get windows.

Can anyone tell me where I can edit the boot selector, or bypass it?

ya it has to happen if u bypass the x86 boot sector , well basically it is in the boot sector of solaris itself so if u bypass it well u know whats going to happen , ur solaris won't boot at all. try to find out how u can reduce the time out of the boot menu so that ur solaris boots within 0 secs.
i suppose thats the only way and instead of using bootmagic , y don't u use Gag , try it out u'll like it its free and besides all the sources r also there.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if my question was clear, so I'll try and explain it again.

Bootmagic is fine and I'm very happy with it - it works PERFECTLY.

The Solaris Boot selector (Blue Screen), ALSO works fine.

The point is, I'm getting them both - so I get two questions about which OS I want. But I want the machine to only ask once.

I know how to remove Bootmagic. I'd just like to know how to stop the Solaris boot selector from displaying.

I'm not looking for a work around, I'm specifically looking for the location of the code/scripts which control the Solaris boot selector, as I want to make changes.

I hope that's clearer. Can anyone help?
