Comment:

Having a problem with the booting of a Sun Blade after doing a complete restore from tape. I entered this command that worked with the sparc and ultra series but for the Blade it doesn't seem to work.

/usr/sbin/installboot \
/usr/platform/`uname –i`/lib/fs/ufs/bootblk \
/dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I would expect to see the response to a uname -m, not uname -i
On our Ultra 5's Netra x1's and Fire's its sun4u,
Try substituting this value eg:-
/usr/sbin/installboot \
/usr/platform/sun4u/lib/fs/ufs/bootblk \
/dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0

Thanks for the input. I did a man page on the uname and it recommends that the -m not be done. Since it's a new system I figure I can follow your advice on Monday. Thanks for the advice as I have little experience with the Blade, only with the SPARC and ULTRA series. Again, thanks Robin.
