ok i have ordered bits to buy a new computer to put solaris 10 on so i can teach myself how to use it. and have a server at the end of it thing is i was drawn to the amd Cool'n'Quiet technology and the mobo im buying suports this. i dont know much about this but is it hardware controled or software. plus if its software does solaris 10 cater for this?

AMD and its partners have worked together to implement Cool'n'Quiet technology as a system feature that consists of: a processor with Cool'n'Quiet technology enabled, motherboard, supporting BIOS, software driver and CPU cooler.

Not just a software issue.

Since a software driver is also required I doubt there is any Solaris 10 support. Sun has very good support for the opteron processors which do not offer this feature.

If you wish such a design and run solaris you 'd need to go to the sun site and see the cool threads offerings.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.
