How would I get this nic working on Solaris 8, or 3c905b-TX. Plase provide as much detail as possible as I am using solaris for first time. I know linux well but not solaris.
ThanX

Srdjan -
If you are installing Solaris 8 as a fresh load in an x86 box, Solaris scans for installed hardware and installs the proper drivers from the start. 3COM is a very good choice of network cards. When asked about IP address and network mask, provide the info as it pertains to you. I know this sounds really vague; send me an e-mail and I can give more details.

Visit http://sunsolve.sun.com/pub-cgi/show.pl?target=patches/patch-access and find the patch for 3com3c905-TX for Soalris8s
h
use pkgadd
add following lines in script in rc0.d,rc2.d ifconfig elxl0 plumb
ifconfig elxl0 auto-dhcp -FOr DHCP
Reboot

3c905b-TX?
That's the exact card, I have two of them.
One is installed on my Solaris 7 machine, another on a Solaris 8. So far no needs for a special driver, nor for any patch.
The cards are recognized during installation with no problem, and work fine.By the way, I’ve installed a second card into my Solaris 8 box, the 3C905CX-TX-NM.
The 3Com says that provide with only drivers for Linux 2.4, 2.2; Windows XP, Me, 2000, 98, NT 4.0; Novell NetWare 5.x .I’ve installed the solaris8.exe driver instead from their 3C905B-TX-NM, and I confirm: it works.
