DOS-862 format conversions

I have a problem with DOS-862 format conversions. My basic goal is to convert a Solaris programme to a UNICODE supporting one. I use the GNU iconv lib, which is quite helpful to convert strings of different formats to UTF-16. The problem is that the library does not support conversions to or from DOS- 862 format (or any DOS formats, for that matter). I would appreciate it very much if one of you could tell me if they happen to know a package that converts DOS formats, or have any suggestions in that matter. Thanks allot, Deena Y.
