Subject: ZoneAlarm:Set tvdumpflags=10OS: Win 98CPU/Ram: 300/512 |
Comment: I've just updated my ZA firewall due to attachment issues with my Lycos Mail & Zone Alarm. The version I have now is 5.5.062 and have noticed a new entry in my system files (Set tvdumpflags=10) I have Googled this but am none the wiser but get the impression I do not really require it as it keeps adding entries willy nilly. I already have ZLT#### making entry logs like mad in my Windows/Temp and could do without this causing entries for the sake of it. Anyone please advise Thankyou. M

Reply: (edit)check autoexec.bat, something to do with tv tuner?no ,or... True Vector service ...Every time you reinstalled it, another "tvdumpflags" line was added to your autoexec.bat. It's a parameter ZA uses to create a log file every time something goes wrong with ZA's True Vector service. Sometimes ZA's support might need the log file to troubleshoot a problem. But you only need one instance of it, to remove the others, click Start > Run > sysedit and highlight the tvdumpflags by dragging your mouse over the entry, then hit the "Delete" button on your keyboard. also check config.sys using sysedit or notepad...:)

Reply: (edit)Thanks bofra I saw that while researching but I had only one instance of Set tvdumpflags=10, however I've took the possibly unwise initiative to delete this line in autoexec.bat and now my PC closes down correctly without the BSOD. Now to wait & see if it gets battered by spyware etc, so far so good. M
