zonealarm will not let me connect to the net unless i give generic host process access and server access.....with the old version of zonealarm i never gave anything server access but for some reason this version needs it just for me to get on the net!!!.....any suggestions??....if none does any1 have a website address with the older versions of zonealarms?

I have ZA pro and Generic Host Process is only allowed internet/trusted access and not server with no problems. Have you opened ZA, used the program control>programs and right clicked Generic Host Process and removed it. When the allow access prompts appear again allow internet/trusted and deny server trusted internet. There are old versions available at http://www.oldversion.com/ but they are versions 2.0,2.1 and 2.6. If you go to http:www.my-etrust.com/microsoft/index.cfm you can get "ezarmor" from Computer Associates that has a version of ZA pro 3.7, that is free for a year. Etrust antivirus is also part of the package. All you have to do is register to get it, and a license key will be emailed to you. You can elect to install the entire package or just the firewall. You can also try the entire suite and uninstall the antivirus or firewall separately if you do not like them. I use this setup on some older computers that I and my children have, as it uses little system resources and has done a good job at protecting things from virus attacks so far.

Hi dumbgirl, it took me quite a bit of searching, but I found the older version of Zone Alarm; version 3.7.211. The address above will take you to the download site.
I am using that older version too, and find it to be pretty much trouble free. Hope this helps you out a little>
